Avril Reynolds
Avril Reynolds has twenty years of experience in the care sector and is deeply passionate about delivering outstanding, person-centred services. Alongside a dedicated staff team, Avril ensures that they not only meet but exceed CQC standards, providing high-quality care that truly makes a difference.
Avril has extensive experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities, mental health needs, and elderly care. Her expertise includes working with complex behaviours, maintaining high standards of quality assurance, and driving continuous improvement in service delivery. She has a proven track record of successfully transforming existing services from a CQC rating of “Requires Improvement” to “Good” by implementing robust quality improvement plans, enhancing staff training, and fostering a strong culture of excellence.
In addition, Avril is highly experienced in setting up new services and developing them into thriving, outstanding provisions. She works closely with multidisciplinary professionals to ensure compliance and the highest standards of care. By working in co-production with loved ones, families, and friends, Avril believes bespoke care plans can be created that promote dignity, independence, and overall well-being.
Avril holds a Level 5 qualification in Health and Social Care Leadership, along with all mandatory training required for her role. As a manager, Avril’s motto is to lead by example—supporting, inspiring, and empowering her staff to be the best versions of themselves so that, in turn, they provide the highest standard of care.
April Thompson
April Thompson brings over 20 years of dedicated experience within the health and social care sector to her role at Sherbourne Lodge. Her extensive career journey reflects her unwavering commitment to excellence in care and nursing, encompassing a broad spectrum of roles and responsibilities.
April's expertise includes working as a Senior Nursing Assistant within Oncology and Haematology, where she provided exceptional care and support to patients during critical stages of their healthcare journey. She also served as a Care Manager for domiciliary care services, overseeing operations across Suffolk and Cambridgeshire to ensure individuals received compassionate and tailored support in their homes.
April's career further highlights her work with individuals living with dementia and mental health needs in a specialized mental health hospital setting, where she honed her skills in providing empathetic, person-centered care. She later advanced to leadership roles, including Lead Practitioner and Deputy Manager for a large care home in Cambridge, showcasing her ability to mentor teams and uphold the highest standards of care.
As Deputy Manager at Sherbourne Lodge, April brings her vast knowledge, experience, and passion for the care and nursing sector to the forefront. Collaborating closely with Home Manager Avril Reynolds, she leads the staff team with a shared vision to strive for excellence every day, ensuring residents receive the highest quality care in a warm, supportive environment.
